Lafayette Police investigating early morning homicide, searching for suspect

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Lafayette Police are investigating an early morning homicide.

Officers responded to the scene at 12:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Ninth Street.

Public Information Officer Karl Ratcliff tells News 10 the victim, identified as Tyler Etienne, 20, of Lafayette, was shot multiple times by an unidentified suspect who reportedly fled the scene on foot after.

Etienne was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are seeking a black male suspect based on witness accounts at this time.
