LUS workers to help with Matthew recovery


LAFAYETTE, La. (The Daily Advertiser) – Lafayette Utilities System electric crews are on standby to assist Florida communities recover from Hurricane Matthew.

Mayor-President Joel Robideaux has authorized LUS to send crews to Florida to restore electricity in the wake of the storm, LUS Director Terry Huval tells The Daily Advertiser.

“Florida utilities had already requested our help a few days ago,” he said.

Several public utilities systems in Florida, including Tallahassee, Gainesville and Jacksonville, Huval said, “have assisted us often in the past.”

LUS will be reimbursed for its costs by the cities its workers assist, he added.
