LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)— Acadiana Mall will be closing its doors for Thanksgiving Day, according to its parent company CBL.
CBL, owner of the Mall of Acadiana said the company will close the doors at nearly all of its 73 properties on the holiday until 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
The closings will allow about 1,500 mall employees and between 750 and 2,000 retail workers per property to celebrate the holiday the parent company said.
“We want to bring back the excitement of Black Friday shopping as the true start of the holiday shopping season and allow our employees, retailers, and shoppers to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families,” said Stephen Lebovitz, President and CEO, CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. “After evaluating feedback from our mall employees, retail partners, and input from our shoppers we determined that this was the best decision for our properties.”
According to a news release, department stores and retailers with exterior mall entrances will have the option to open their stores on Thursday. However, access to mall common areas will be restricted until 6:00 am on Friday.
