Angel Tree registration opening in Acadiana

With just ten weeks until Christmas, the holiday season is quickly approaching and many local families are in need of assistance.

To meet this need, The Salvation Army is in the midst of its Christmas Outreach Programs.

October twenty first is the start of their annual Angel Tree Registration for local children.

This allows children ages 12 and under who are less fortunate, an opportunity for people to donate items on their wish list for Christmas.

But this year, The Salvation Army has extended their offer to families who lost everything during the 2016 historic flooding and are inviting those families to register for this years Angel Tree offering.

Through the generosity of local donors, the angel tree will provide much needed clothing, toys and other crucial items to families who have spent the past several weeks picking up the pieces left behind by the hard rain.

Major Mel James of the Salvation Army breaks it all down in this clip.
