BROUSSARD, La. (KLFY) – Broussard Police have released more information on the investigation of a suspicious death that happened Wednesday afternoon.

Chief Brannon Decou says at approximately 2:10 p.m. officers responded to the 6100 block of Highway 90 at Blanchet’s Exxon in reference to suspicious circumstances where a white male was dropped off or possibly pushed out of a white pickup truck and the truck drove off.

The man was described as having blue lips and fingertips and Acadian Ambulance was dispatched to the scene as well.

He was identified as Louis Hazelwood, 35, of New Iberia.

Responding personnel tried to resuscitate Hazelwood with CPR, but he was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be conducted Thursday.

Cheif Decou says police have identified and located the driver of the white pickup and have confirmed that Hazelwood was not dumped, but rather brought to the gas station to meet with other people and he became unresponsive at that time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
