MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY)—Friends and family gathered to remember the life of Kendrick Jones.

Many people were singing and praying during a candlelight vigil.

The vigil took place at a home on Longfellow Street in St. Martinville.

Hilda Jones, Kendrick’s mother, spoke to News 10 in an emotional interview.

“I don’t know how my life is going to go on without him. I miss him already. All I can say is, Monkey Jones, Monkey Jones, Monkey Jones, momma love you, momma love you. But it’s so hard.”

The 30-year-old, whose nickname was “Monkey Jones”, was found unresponsive in his truck at the corner of Buchanan and Resweber Street.

The investigation into Jones’ death is ongoing and authorities urge anyone with information to call the St. Martin Police Department.
