Two arrested in Abbeville after search of residence results in large amount of narcotics

ABBEVILLE, La. (KFLY)— After a “lengthy” investigation into the sale of a large amount of suspected narcotics, two have been arrested in Abbeville, authorities said.

According to a spokesperson with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, after an investigation into the sale of a large amount of suspected narcotics, narcotics agents searched with a warrant a residence in on the 2000 block of Cherokee St. in Abbeville.

Agents said during the search, they encountered a male who was identified as Kyle Taylor, 28, allegedly attempting to discard evidence. They also said the encountered a female who was identified as Samantha Perrin, 29. Deputies said Perrin had a small child with her.

A news release said after a sweep of the residence by the Abbeville Police Department K-9, Agents began a search.

Authorities said they located a large amount of suspected “High Grade” marijuana, suspected MDMA, a loaded 9mm handgun, a large amount of suspected synthetic marijuana and U.S. currency.

Furthering their investigation into the residence, authorities said an even larger amount of suspected synthetic marijuana and marijuana as well as a large amount of U.S. currency was located.

Both occupants were charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Marijuana), two counts
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Synthetic Marijuana), two counts
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (MDMA)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of a Firearm in the presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
  • Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the presence of a juvenile
  • Transactions Involving Drug Proceeds, two counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Drug-Free Zone, (Baptist Church).
