UL Lafayette students and faculty clean up streets

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) UL Lafayette students, faculty and staff took to the streets today for the Big Event, a massive day of service across Acadiana.

The students and faculty members planted dozens of trees, picked up tons of trash with Project Front Yard, and worked with Lafayette Consolidated Government for the Better Block McKinley.

They also volunteered at the Boudin Cook-Off and Lafayette Habitat for Humanity.

Students cleared litter from University Avenue and then used the trash to fill the #YARDWORK litter letters in front of Lafayette Middle School to show just how much trash is on our streets any given day.

88 new trees were also planted along Cajundome Boulevard, which is the beginning of a new campus native arboretum.

At 6 p.m. the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns take on Texas State for the 7th football game of the season.
