Coast Guard saves injured man from boat in Galliano

LAFOURCHE, La. (WWL-TV) – The Coast Guard rescued an injured man from a boat on Monday.

It happened 20 miles south of South Lafourche Airport in Galliano, Louisiana.

Watchstanders from the Coast Guard Air Station in New Orleans got a call Monday shortly before 12:30 p.m. about an injured boater.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew was immediately launched to the scene, USCG said.

The aircrew located the boat about an hour later. USCG then deployed a rescue swimmer to help the man and hoist him into the helicopter.

The injured boater was identified as 40-year-old Scott Russ.

Russ was taken to the hospital for further medical assistance.

There is no word yet on his condition.
