KAPLAN, La. (KLFY) – A somber night in Kaplan as the community remembered the three people killed in a house fire.
Family and friends gathered Tuesday night for a vigil at the scene of the fire remembering 22-year-old Felicie Cloteaux, 3-year-old Rory Hudson and 1-year-old Arabella Hudson, the victims of the fire.
Father Travis Hudson and his son Travis Huson Jr. say they are doing better since Sunday after hearing about the death of their family members.
“They make you laugh on your worst days. They don’t want to see us cry see us all upset,” Hudson said.
“It’s sad to see them gone. I spoke to them last weekend but it’s hard. I’m just heartbroken,” Hudson Jr. said.
Officials say family friend Felicie Cloteaux ran into the burning home on Sunday to rescue the children. Cloteaux was able to save one of the children, but not before she died from the fire along with the two other children.
“She was my everything she was my rock. I don’t know. Every morning she would text me. Good morning bubba. Now she can’t,” Brent Cloteaux said, the victim’s brother.
Family and friends honored the three victims at the vigil with a candlelit ceremony and a release of balloons.
