LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)– Election Day is less than two weeks away and early voting is already in the works, with thousands expected to vote early in Lafayette.

Casting ballots early gives voters a chance to beat election day chaos.

Early voting began Tuesday morning, with more than 5,000 Lafayette residents voting since then, at the Registrar of Voters Office.

We’re told there are over 155,000 registered voters in Lafayette and that at least 20%-25% vote early. The rest are expected to vote election day.

You will have 3 minutes to vote, so it is advised to study the ballot beforehand.

The wait to early vote can take a half hour to an hour.

You still have time to vote early from now until November 1st.

The registrar of voters office will be open every day except Sunday from 8:30am-6pm.
