Louisiana’s OMVs no longer accepting cash

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)— The Louisiana OMV will no longer accept cash payments for transactions.

That’s according to the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. The change takes place beginning November 1, 2016.

The OMV will accept these forms of payment for the following:

Driver’s Licenses, Identification Cards, & Mobility Impaired Hang Tag Transactions:

  • Debit cards, credit cards, checks, money orders, and cashier checks

Reinstatement Transactions

  • Debit cards, credit cards, money orders, and cashier checks

Vehicle Transactions

  • Debit cards, credit cards, checks, money orders, and cashier checks
