ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) Around 2:30 a.m., Sunday Troopers from State Police Troop I began investigating a fatal crash that occurred on US 167 near River Road.
The crash took the life of 21 year-old Adan Quinn of Abbeville, LA.
An initial investigation has revealed that the crash occurred as Quinn was driving southbound on US Hwy 167 when for unknown reasons, he ran off of the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and causing the vehicle to cross both southbound lanes of travel and the median.
Police say after crossing the median, the vehicle began to overturn, partially ejecting Quinn who was not wearing a seat and was pronounced dead on scene by the Vermilion Parish Coroner’s Office.
A passenger, 21 year-old Bryan Gamez of Abbeville, was wearing a seat belt and sustained moderate injuries.
Police say he was transported to Lafayette General Medical Center and treated for his injuries.
Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash, but standard toxicology samples were taken from Quinn and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
This cause of the crash remains under investigation.
