LAWTELL, La. (KLFY) – A custodian at a St. Landry Parish elementary school has been accused of sexual battery of a juvenile, according to the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said detectives received a complaint from a 14-year-old female student that the school janitor of Lawtell Elementary inappropriately touched her.
Investigators say the sexual battery occurred on October 28, 2016, after a bus from a local school dropped her off at Lawtell Elementary.
The student asked the janitor, Olan Bienvenue, to show her the school’s haunted house.
Sheriff Guidroz said Bienvenue then escorted the student into the classroom where the haunted house was located and proceeded to inappropriately touch her.
Bienvenue admitted to the illegal activity during an interview with law enforcement, according to the sheriff.
Bienvenue was arrested and charged with sexual battery upon a victim under fifteen years of age. He is currently out of jail on a $6,000 bond.
News 10 reached out to the St. Landry Parish School Board for comment and the Supervisor of Personnel, Matt Scruggins, says that Bienvenue will not be allowed back onto campus until the investigation is complete.
