LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)– Earlier today, students at Northside High were evacuated due to a bomb threat, according to LPSS.
The students were evacuated to the field next to Refuge Temple Ministry Church.
LPSS said in a news release that staff followed the school’s crisis response procedures, working closely with the Lafayette Police and Fire Departments.
Once the entire campus was swept by police and fire officials and declared “all clear,” students returned to class.
The incident lasted a little bit over an hour.
Principal Julia Williams expressed her appreciation of everyone’s cooperation throughout the event and reminded parents in a call afterward that “As always the safety of our children, faculty and staff are our priority.”
It is unclear if police have any persons of interest in the case.
