Jennings murder suspect found with drugs at Duson motel

DUSON, La. (KLFY) – Authorities say a man wanted in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Jennings man last month was arrested this afternoon at motel in Duson.

Police Chief Kip Judice said officers and Acadia Parish sheriff’s deputies received a tip that a murder suspect was at the Super 8 Motel.

Authorities arrested 29-year-old Thomas Segura and his female companion, 29-year-old Judy Cook at the motel.

Judice said investigators discovered 250 grams of high-grade marijuana, 19 ecstasy pills, counterfeit cash, and over $500 in cash in the couple’s room.

Segura was booked on an outstanding first-degree murder warrant from the Jennings Police Department for the October 28 murder of Kayne Deshotel.

29-year-old Devonn Warren, has also been charged with first-degree murder in the case, according to Jennings Deputy Chief Danny Semmes.

Warren is currently in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on unrelated charges.

Cook was charged with harboring a fugitive. Both Cook and Segura face drug charges, Judice said.
