All clear given at SLCC after propane leak

UPDATE: The all clear has been given at SLCC after a propane leak prompted the evacuation of one of the school’s building.

(The Daily Advertiser/KLFY) – A propane leak was detected on the South Louisiana Community College Lafayette campus Tuesday.

The leak was detected between the Ardoin and Devalcourt buildings. The Ardoin building was evacuated about 8:30 a.m. and will remain so until further notice, SLCC Communications and Marketing Director Christine Payton said.

A contractor working on campus discovered the leak coming from a propane tank used for construction equipment.

Classes are still going on as scheduled in all other buildings on the campus, according to Payton.
