COVINGTON (WWL) – A former high school teacher pleaded guilty to serving marijuana-laced brownies to two students last year.
Camille Breaux Brennan, 31, of Mandeville, who taught at Hannan High School will be sentenced on January 5.
According to the District Attorney’s Office of Washington and St. Tammany parishes, Brennan is expected to receive a 10-year sentence, with 7 years suspended. Once released she will be on probation for five years.
The DA’s office also said that Brennan would be ordered to undergo substance abuse and mental health evaluations and have no unsupervised contact with minors.
Brennan admitted to giving the brownies to two students in May, 2015. The crime apparently came to light when one of the students became ill and admitted to a family member that she had eaten brownies laced with marijuana given to her by the teacher.
Brennan was immediately suspended and later fired.
