Edwards to host meeting on community response to pending DOJ announcement in Sterling case

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) – On Monday, November 21, Governor John Bel Edwards will host a meeting with Baton Rouge community leaders and law enforcement officials to discuss the community response to the pending Department of Justice (DOJ) announcement in reference to their investigation into the shooting death of Alton Sterling.

The group will also discuss reforms to improve relationships between the community and law enforcement officers. In attendance will be Col. Mike Edmonson, Superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, Sid Gautreaux, Sheriff of East Baton Rouge Parish, and Carl Dabadie, Chief of the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The closed meeting will be held at the State Capitol.
