LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)– The holidays are around the corner, and another winner was selected in the KLFY and Giles Automotive Pay My Bills Contest.
On weekdays from Oct. 31 through Nov. 18, during KLFY’s Passe Partout, 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts, callers were prompted with a “Cue to Call” when the contest line opened. Thousands of viewers called each day for the chance to be a qualifier to win $10,000.
On Nov. 22, during the 10 p.m. newscast the second winner was chosen live from the KLFY studio and for the second day in a row, someone’s life was about to change.
Today, we met up with the week two’s winner, Lori Broussard, as she and her family picked up a check from Giles Nissan on Johnston St.
Mrs. Broussard told KLFY that as the contest was going on, she would call about 20 times each time the ‘Cue to Call’ was prompted. “One time I was the fifth caller.” Said Mrs. Broussard. Finally, after multiple attempts, she was caller number 10 and qualified.
Mrs. Broussard said, with her husband having cancer needing radiation treatment, one child starting college, another already at ULL and her home needing a roof replacement. Winning the Pay My Bills contest couldn’t have come at a better time.
“We feel so blessed”, said Mrs. Broussard, adding that she is incredibly thankful for Mr. Giles and all he does for the community. “It’s life changing.”
We asked Mrs. Broussard how her husband is doing, and she said, he’s now doing fine.
Don’t forget to watch News 10 tonight as we pick week three’s Pay My Bills Contest winner.
