A 14-year-old girl from Woodville, Mississippi, and a 33-year-old Baton Rouge man each was killed in Thanksgiving Day accidents in Louisiana.
Louisiana State Police say Emily Sessions died in East Feliciana Parish after the vehicle she was in overturned and hit a tree. It happened about 4 p.m. near Norwood.
The car’s driver, 24-year-old Shannon Sessions, and a third passenger suffered moderate injuries.
Trooper 1st Class Bryan Lee says Sessions lost control when a bug flew into the vehicle and distracted her, sending her car down an embankment and into a tree.
In the earlier Thursday crash, David Breland III, drove his car into a culvert as he headed north on La. 30 about 5 a.m. Troopers say the car caught fire. Breland was pronounced dead by the coroner’s office.
