UPDATE: 10:01 p.m. All lanes of Interstate 10 westbound have been reopened at LA 415, however heavy congestion remains on US 190.
Police say the driver of the 18 wheeler was not injured. The driver of a second vehicle involved in the incident was also not injured.
UPDATE: There is now congestion on US 190 west from LA 415 to Krotz Springs after traffic was re-routed from I-10 to US 190 at Lobdell. State Police ask that motorist remain patient as the cleanup continues across the Basin Bridge.
UPDATE: Interstate 10 westbound remains closed at LA 415 (Lobdell) as Troopers investigate a two vehicle crash at milepost 127 involving an 18 wheeler that burst into flames and a passenger vehicle.
Police say emergency crews have extinguished the fire and are working as quickly and safely as possible to clear the roadway.
The closure is expected to last into the late evening hours and motorists should continue to use US 190 as a detour.
ORIGINAL: I-10 Westbound remains closed at LA 415 (Lobdell) due to an 18 wheeler fire at MM 127.6 (Whiskey Bay).
According to State Police, congestion has reached the S. Acadian Thruway Exit.
There are no known injuries at this time.
Police are asking that motorist seek an additional route.
