BROUSSARD, La. (KLFY) – Two Acadiana men are accused of wearing construction clothes while stealing packages outside of homes in a Broussard subdivision.
Police Chief Brannon Decou said officers stopped a car early Tuesday morning that was traveling suspiciously and matched the description of a vehicle involved in a previous report of stolen packages.
Investigators say the driver of the car, 23-year-old Bradley Harris, of St. Martinville, was found to be in possession of a stolen package and other stolen property including sunglasses, watches, iPods, an iPad, cell phones, and a purse.
Hard-hats, reflective construction vests, and rubber boots were also found inside of the vehicle.
Surveillance video shows ” Harris and an accomplice wearing the construction clothing as they committed thefts by stealing delivered packages from front door-steps,” according to Decou.
A second suspect, 23-year-old John Derek Malbrough Jr., of Lafayette, ran off during the traffic stop. Malbrough was quickly apprehended and arrested for possession of stolen property and two counts of theft.
Harris was arrested on similar charges.
Decou said anyone who sees criminal activity is asked to call the Broussard Police Department at (337) 837-6259.
