NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – All over the South and all over the country, people have been watching the news coming out of East Tennessee.

That includes Music City and the people who make music here.

Wednesday night at the Bridgestone Arena, Charlie Daniels was hosting his annual Volunteer Jam, and the fires were on everyone’s minds.

“A lot of prayers. A lot of prayers. I’ve been praying and hoping the good Lord would send a deluge of rain over there to help those guys,” Daniels said.

“Seeing the pictures that have been coming back from over there, and having been to that part of the country, it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world. Having been over there and spent time over there, and to see what has happened, I can’t imagine the heartbreak,” he added.

“It’s absolutely terrible, that’s my only thought I have,” said Chris Stapleton. “I hate that happened to anybody… Those things, you don’t know what to say but tell me what you need, check on your neighbors and help each other out.”

Around 15,000 people attended this year’s Volunteer Jam. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Journey Home Project to help veterans.
