(The Daily Advertiser) – The Lafayette Parish School System has kicked off a district-wide recycling initiative.
The system has partnered with Waste Management to establish recycling collection sites at 18 schools and two central office locations.
This is the first phase of an LPSS initiative to make all of its facilities more environmentally friendly. So far, the district has recycled more than 4.9 tons of material through a single-stream recycling system.
Middle and high school students competed in a district-wide recycling logo contest centered around blending recycling concepts and the LPSS logo. Winners were recognized at the December 7 school board meeting, and the logos will be used during the recycling campaign for the next year.
