LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) Sheriff Mark Garber spent his Sunday morning patrolling Bayou Vermilion during the Bayou Vermilion’s District Festival & Boat Parade.
In a Facebook post, Garber said he wanted to ensure the safety of the community and the event as a whole.
“Those who were out there with us know that the weather looked really dicey a couple of times and there was some consideration to canceling the run, but the storms parted way and gave room for the parade to go forward,” Garber said.
The Bayou Vermilion Festival & Boat Parade is a celebration of and on the Bayou Vermilion that aims to increase awareness of the river as a viable source of recreation for Lafayette Parish as well as awareness of the Bayou Vermilion District’s efforts along the Vermilion.
