Assumption Parish authorities seek person who shot horses

BERTRANDVILLE, La. (AP) — Assumption Parish sheriff’s deputies are looking for the person who shot and killed one horse and wounded another one so severely it had to be put down.

Sheriff Mike Waguespack says deputies responded to a call Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the horses’ owner saying his animals had been shot.

The Advocate reports ( ) deputies found one horse dead after it was shot multiple times. The second horse was still alive, but also had multiple gunshot wounds. Waguespack said Thursday that the second animal was put down upon the advice of the animal’s veterinarian.

A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. Anyone with information should contact the sheriff’s office at 985-526-1627 or 985-369-2912.
