NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Police say a Mississippi woman who went missing in New Orleans has been found a week later, safe in a Shreveport hospital.
A New Orleans Police Department spokesman, Officer Juan Barnes, says 38-year-old Chanda Smith was found Sunday and is reported to be in good health.
Smith lives in Union, Mississippi. She was reported missing June 26 after last being seen walking away from the Sheraton hotel on Canal Street hotel around 1 a.m. A surveillance video later that afternoon showed her boarding a Greyhound bus for Baton Rouge.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/29oDcXv ) Smith was in New Orleans to attend the National Junior Beta Club Convention with her mother and other relatives. After her disappearance, her family said she has mental illness and was not on her daily medication.
